In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
This is the blessed letter
which the third Caliph, Amir-ul-Mu’minin Hazrat Uthman bin Affan (RA)
wrote with his blessed hand
on the sacred and historic occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage.
“These words, even though they have been covered with the dust of centuries, still contain within them the same light, the same simplicity and the fragrance of faith, which touch and soothe hearts, awaken devotion and give a subtle warmth to the soul.”
The subject of this blessed letter
Exalted and exalted is Allah, the True King. There is no god but Him. He is the Lord of the Glorious Throne. These words describe the Oneness of Allah, His Kingdom and Greatness in a way that humbles the heart and awakens the soul. And whoever invokes another god with Allah, for which he has no proof, then his account will be with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed. This declaration establishes a clear distinction between truth and falsehood—the foundation of faith on which the edifice of Islam stands. And say: ‘My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of those who show mercy.’ These words are a beautiful reflection of the humility of the heart of a great companion, his supplication, and his relationship with his Lord—where there is both strength and servitude.
According to tradition, this blessed letter is attributed to the sacred occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage and, despite the passage of centuries, is still considered a bright manifestation of faith, certainty, and pure servitude.
